Called By Name is a week dedicated towards promoting vocations to the priesthood and religious life through prayer and support for those considering these vocations.

August 24 - September 11

Meet with Vocations Office

  • Schedule a meeting with Audry, our Programs & Relations Associate. She will provide guidance and answer questions about executing a fruitful CBN Week in your parish. Email Audry at aestrada@austindiocese.org to schedule your meeting, and find more resources to plan CBN here.
August 24-28

Meeting of Priest, Parish Staff, and Volunteers

  • Schedule a day/time this week to meet with the pastor, parish staff, and key volunteers to brainstorm names of potential parishioners to submit.

 

September 5-6

Parish Promotion

  • This is the weekend to announce CBN in the parish at Mass: Include Bishop’s letter in the bulletin for September 5-6 and post it to social media pages.

Social Media Promotion

  • The easiest way to promote CBN through social media is sharing Austin Vocation posts.
    Austin Vocations will post three times a day this week. You may also organize your own campaign. Here are some resources to help you.

  • Holy Hour for Vocations
  • September 12 is the first day of CBN Week, which begins with a parish Holy Hour for Vocations. Find detailed instructions here.

Social Media Promotion

  • Promote vocations through social media posts and help young people discern God’s call for their lives. Encourage parishioners and your catechists to submit names from  parish RE classes, youth ministry gatherings, and Catholic schools.
September 19-20

Parish Promotion

    • September 19-20 is the weekend after CBN and the last time to remind parishioners to submit names for Called By Name Sunday.
November 1-7

Vocation Lessons

  • November 1-7 is NVAW, which includes teaching on vocations in RE classes, youth ministry gatherings, and Catholic schools, include lessons on vocations. Lessons can be found here.
